THE WITCHES BALL

The Witch ball

A witch ball or speculum is a hollow sphere of plain or stained glass hung in cottage windows in 18th century England to ward off evil spirits, witch’s spells or ill fortune, though the Witch’s Ball actually originated among cultures where witches were considered a blessing and these witches would usually “enchant” the balls to enhance their potency against evils or to scary and divine things to come.

Crystal gazers sometimes claimed they used balls to communicate with the spirits of dead souls. Mirrors could also be used for particular purposes. Here are few ways to use a mirror in love spells.

• Obtain a hand mirror with a copper backing (a metal associated with Aphrodite)

• Write the subject of the spell and corresponding mystical characters on the back of the mirror

• Take the mirror to a spot where a dog and a bitch are copulating

• Reflect the copulation in the mirror

• When the victim looked into this mirror, they were stricken with lust for the owner of the mirror
